The Types Of Last Minute Christmas Shoppers
June 15, 2011 No CommentsIf you are like the majority of people, you leave your Christmas shopping until the last possible minute. The trouble with this is, that the last few days before Christmas, is one of the most frantic and stressful times of the year. Not only will you have trouble finding car parking in the last few days, but the stores are also filled to capacity with people who have, like you, left things late. What’s more, by the time you finally get to the store, the chances are that the top toys for Christmas have been sold already and you’re left with the limited range of gifts that are left over.
There are many reasons why people become last-minute shoppers, the most innocent of which is that some people are busy with work and other commitments and simply do not have the time to get their shopping done early. College students are also in a bad position due to the fact they must sit exams before Christmas and are so preoccupied with their studies, that Christmas is far from their minds. But by far the most common type of last-minute shoppers are those born procrastinators who just can’t get motivated to get their shopping started early and must rely on panic, to drive them into action.
Shoppers who are procrastinators may visit stores every week in November or October, which would be an excellent time to go hunting for the hottest Christmas toys, yet they end up just window shopping and dreaming instead of taking decisive action. If you are a procrastinator, then you will probably be aware that Christmas is approaching, but do not feel compelled to purchase anything until the stress of little remaining time hits you. Unfortunately, too often this makes things much harder, and results in poorer selection of gifts that are suitable for friends and family members.
And then there are the type of last-minute shopper that thrive on the thrill of actually cramming their shopping into as little time as possible. They see Christmas shopping as a challenge and rise to the occasion with vigor and enthusiasm. They are confident they have the ability to find some great gifts and they usually manage to pull of some feats that are close to impossible for the average shopper. But most people don’t fit this category where they can manage to stay afloat under intense pressure and stress.
Most are in the procrastinator category and could benefit from being a little more organized in their Christmas preparations. So if you leave things to the last-minute, it may be time to turn over a new leave and start earlier, make a list and set a Christmas shopping budget.
